Made from oak and maple, the bench is a place to put on or take off shoes, with somewhere to hang coats and accessories.

Exhibited at V&A Dundee after completion, in Designs for Living, an exhibition of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design creative work.

The brief was to capture the elegant shapes and lines of beautiful furniture, with inspiration from the Thonet No.14 chair. The process went from prototyping to sketching, shadow sketching, refined prototypes and CAD.

Modelled in SketchUp, with toolpaths set in VCarve and parts cut on a CNC router from plywood and Valchromat. Once the CAD model was complete, cutting took less than 30 minutes.

Crates produced in plywood with glued and screwed construction. Foam is used on the inside faces to protect the edges of the table tops stored within.

The sauna was built by others. My part was modifying and welding the trailer so the sauna could sit on it.

Dundee Design Festival, 2021 and 2024: part of a small team installing large-scale, interactive design structures and exhibitions, including logistics, transport and set-up.

Also worked as a technician with Tea Green Events across Scotland, and as general crew and carpenter for NL Productions at the 2024 Dundee Christmas market.

The van was fully stripped out, sound deadened, insulated and carpet lined, then fitted with custom furniture to turn it into a micro camper.

It has since been taken on a three-week road trip around Europe and used for many weekends away.
